Coming Brush with Comet ISON Sparks October 14 Library Program

Comet ISON
will graze the sun’s atmosphere on November 28. If it survives its solar
encounter, ISON could emerge glowing as brightly as the moon and visible to the
unaided eye, even in broad daylight! Be prepared to fully appreciate this
potentially spectacular event by attending “Movers in the Sky: Comets, Meteors,
and Asteroids” at the Glencoe Public Library on Monday, October 14, at 10:30
a.m.

The program
will be presented by astrophysicist and former NASA consultant Kevin Manning,
who presented a very popular program at the library last spring. This interactive,
family-friendly program is for adults and children ages 10 and older.

If the sky
is clear, participants will be invited to go outside with Dr. Manning after the
program to view sun spots through NASA-approved filters.
