Winnetka Warns Residents of High Winds Near Lake

High winds with possible gusts near 40 miles per hour and waves of 10 to 14 feet are predicted on Lake Michigan over the next 24 hours.

Winnetka Public Safety officials would like to warn residents that Lake Michigan will be a dangerous place for the next 24 hours due to north winds with possible gusts to near 40 mph and waves of 10 to 14 feet. 

In addition there will be a high risk for dangerous rip currents. Recreational boaters, swimmers, kayakers, cyclists, joggers and walkers should use extreme caution along the lakefront and stay off piers and break walls.
