Residents Celebrate Winnetka Fourth Fest

Holiday Celebrated With Games, Food, Fireworks

Winnetka residents gathered at Duke Childs Field on Willow Road Monday night for an explosive close to the Fourth of July weekend. Fourth Fest, a celebration featuring lots of family friendly fun, is put on every year by the Winnetka Park District and the Village of Winnetka.

The fest this year featured numerous inflatable rides for kids, facepainting, stilt walkers making balloon animals, live music by Spoken Four, food served by the Grand Food Center, and, of coarse, fireworks at the end of the night.

Bob Fiegen, who has lived in the area for 80 years and has been coming to Winnetka's fireworks for more decades than he can remember, said, "It's the best fireworks on the North Shore. I remember we used to park on Willow Road and have them flashing right in front of our faces. That probably wasn't too safe."
