Glencoe Grand Prix Women's Race Cancelled Due to Injuries

A 47-year-old woman from Hinsdale was badly injured at the Glencoe Grand Prix bicycle race on Saturday afternoon, according to the Glencoe News. She was described in the article as "seriously injured, and given advanced life support and transferred to Evanston Hospital," according to Alan Kebby, Glencoe's interim chief of public safety. One other woman was transported by ambulance from the race, with less serious injuries. The second injury occurred around 2:31 p.m. and the race was cancelled afterward.

Grand Prix organizer Jon Knouse told the Glencoe News that the first woman to be taken in an ambulance was taken by a private ambulance dedicated to the event, and the second was taken by the village ambulance. At least one doctor and medics were reportedly at the injured woman's side immediately. There were reportedly no serious defects in the road that caused the second more serious injury.

At the time of publication, the woman's condition is not known.
