2010 New Trier Grad Dies, Remembered as “Courageous”

Mary Catherine Hayes, a 2010 New Trier Graduate, passed away Wednesday morning from complications of an illness, according to friends.

Hayes, who was from Winnetka and was a student at Syracuse University, is being remembered by friends, family and professors as a courageous young woman who lit up a room.

“Mary Catherine made people only think about the good about her every day of her life,” Geraldine Clark, a professor at Syracuse University, wrote on Hayes’ Facebook wall. “She was so talented, beautiful, intelligent, kind, generous and brave. She will be one of the models I hold in my heart the rest of my life.”

“We lost a courageous, kind, talented, beautiful, generally badass human being today,” Chloe Miller wrote on her Facebook page.

“Your grace, beauty and laughter were beyond compare,” Spencer Schiele commented on the Facebook page.
