We ask that you wear your PJs, and bring along a pillow and your fave stuffed animal. Aimed at kids ages 3-7, this event is free and open to the public.

As always, the sale will feature thousands of slightly used books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and more—at great prices. Sale hours will be Saturday, October 13, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Sunday, October 14, 1:00-5:00 p.m. (everything half price); and Monday, October 15, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon ($3/bag sale).

Artist Terri Murphy Leads a Story/Activity Time at The Book Stall

The Book Stall at Chestnut Court is pleased to host local artist and educator Terri Murphy, reading from her new book, One Day I Went Rambling, and leading activities based on the book. Aimed at kids ages 5-8, this event is free and open to the public. Have you ever found something ordinary and made it extraordinary?  Let your imagination fly when illustrator Terri Murphy rambles into our store to read from her newly released picture book, One Day I Went Rambling.  Zane, a rambling, easy-going collector, sees magic in everything, and spends his days collecting discarded treasures to build something fantastic.  Terri will lead the kids in imaginative exercises designed to encourage them to tell, write and draw their own magical stories.

Glencoe's Gasoline Alley

  • Why Go?: Gasoline Alley, the longest tale ever told in comics, was a sweet, often poignant, story-driven, daily comic strip created by former Glencoe resident Frank King. Members of the Glencoe Historical Society will remind you or introduce you to the extraordinary world of Walt Wallet, his foundling son Skeezix, and the cast of colorful denizens that populated Gasoline Alley. Born in the pages of The Chicago Tribune, where King was employed as an illustrator, the strip was widely syndicated. Learn why Gasoline Alley holds a unique place in the comic world and how our own community contributed to its success.

Weekend Warrior Yoga
