Four New Business Expected in Northfield

From a new taco restaurant to a new animal hospital, the village says it's excited about the variety of businesses that's coming to the village.

An online retailer and a dialysis center are among the four new businesses expected to open in Northfield in the near future.

PC Nation is planning to move its online sales operations and a showroom into the building at 500 Central Ave. by end of October, according to Steven Gutierrez, community development director for the Village of Northfield.

“They have a show room and retail area that they are hoping to open before the holidays,” Gutierrez said. “It’ll be in a separate space but at the same address.”

Taco Nano is expected to take over the former Hunan Chef’s space at 1743 Orchard Ln. The store is expected to be a quick-serve spot with 16 chairs and an emphasis on carryout.

“They are in the midst of renovating the space and are looking at a late November or early December open date,” Gutierrez said.

Fresenius Dialysis Center is expected to go into a vacant office building at 480 Central Avenue. Gutierrez says they are still in the design phase and still need to submit their application for permits.

BluePearl Animal Hospital is expected to open in spring 2013 at 820 Frontage Rd.

Among the businesses slated to open PC Nation has the highest potential for sales tax, Gutierrez said.

“Anything they sell online to customers in Illinois, since those sales originated in Northfield, sales tax will be collected on those,” he said.

The variety of businesses will offer residents a choice in terms of shopping, eating and services but it will also help the village.

“We think a variety will really help to strengthen our commercial tax base,” Gutierrez said.
