Date Night Destinations: Winnetka

No need to travel far and wide for the best date spots. There's plenty of romantic eats just around the corner.

A neighborhood staple for its reliably delicious Italian food and constantly changing specials menu, O’Neils is a tried and true date spot. Dark and atmospheric, O’Neils is the perfect place for a first date that’s special but not too buttoned-up. Start out with their classic Caesar salad or share a plate of steamed mussels for something a little more romantic. Try the salmon with orzo pasta for dinner and leave room for a slice of triple chocolate cake for dessert.

One of the gems of Winnetka, this restaurant is not to be missed if you’re looking for a great date spot not too far from home. Classic French fare in an elegant and simple dining room, Restaurant Michael brings five-star cuisine and upscale attitude to any date or get-together. With a seasonal menu, be sure to try their specials, hand picked by Chef Michael Lachowicz. Want a nice bottle of wine but unsure of what vintage to go with? Sommeliers will be happy to help you and your sweetheart select a great bottle to match your entrees.

Avli, located in the Laundry Mall, brings all the fun and flare of traditional Greek food without sky-high prices. Perfect for the cost-conscious dater, you won’t need to shell out hundreds for a romantic night out. Start your meal with a selection of spreads and pita. Pita flatbreads are also great for sharing.

The restaurant side of Corner Cooks, Jerry's offers contemporary American cuisine in a chic, but comfortable environment. Diners can bring their own bottle of wine on Wednesdays or take recommendations from the knowledgeable staff. You and your date can order your own entrees, from flounder to pork chops, and share a family style side dish. The lemonchello cheesecake is not to be missed for dessert.
