The Northbrook Musical Theatre for Young Audiences will be performing an adaptation of the children's book, Goodnight Moon, starting on January 18 at 3323 Walters Ave.

The play, a bedtime story story about familiar things coming to life, will be directed by Peter Vamvakas in the Northbrook Theatre's Great Green Room.

“Audiences will marvel as they watch Bunny's room magically come alive with tap-dancing Bears with chairs, the Cat and the Fiddle, an Old Lady whispering ‘Hush,’ a playful Mouse who glides around the stage on a cart made of Swiss cheese, and a marionette show in which Clarabelle the Daredevil Cow, at long last, succeeds in jumping over the moon,” Vamvakas explained in a press release. “Furniture pieces and paintings take on human qualities and also participate in the bedtime-interrupting adventures in this production.”

Designed for family audiences and children in preschool through grade school, the  one hour play will run on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. through February 22 and run approximately one hour. After every show, the audience can meet the cast.

Reserved seats for Goodnight Moon The Musical are $12 and can be purchased online at nbparks.org, by phone and at the Box Office in the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Discounts are available for groups and on Fridays at the Box Office.

The Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences is produced in association with the League of Chicago Theaters and Actors’ Equity and is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. For more information, call (847) 291-2995.
