The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP) is pleased to
present the musical comedy “Once Upon a Mattress,” a satirical take on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea.”

Award-winning performer and director Adam Busch leads the cast and crew of nearly 60 middle school students in this family-friendly production.  With music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer, Once Upon a Mattress debuted on Broadway in 1959, making Carol Burnett (who played Princess “Fred”) a household name.   Busch and the GJHP have adapted the script to keep the farcical plot suitable for all ages.  Audiences will be royally amused by the engaging dialogue and catchy musical numbers and enchanted by the medieval set and costuming.

This is the GJHP’s 36th annual production in what has become a village tradition, launching the careers of several professional actors, including Lili Taylor.  Each show will feature a surprise guest appearance by a member of the Central Junior High School staff.   Four performances will be held in Central School’s Misner Auditorium (620 Greenwood Ave.) on the following dates and times:
