Errol Morris’s newest documentary, Tabloid, shines a camera light on his favorite subject: obsessive personalities on the fringe and their subjective realities. Here he takes his taste for the weird to the case of Joyce McKinney, a former Miss Wyoming who became a tabloid sensation in 1977 when she allegedly abducted and forced herself on a Mormon missionary in a cottage in England. Was it actually love, as she claims in this astonishing film, or a crime? “It’s a ridiculous story,” the director of The Fog of War and The Thin Blue Line told John Anderson of The New York Times. “But people are wrong if they think the profound and ridiculous are incompatible.”
The film will be screened at the Woman's Library Club, 325 Tudor Court, twice: at 1:00 pm and at 7:00 pm.
