Winnetka Third Graders Enjoy Pioneer Day

The first Pioneer Day Celebration took place at Crow Island Woods.

The following is from the Winnetka Park District:

On Monday, May 19, 2014 the Winnetka Park District along with partners, Winnetka Historical Society, BackYard Nature Center, Winnetka-Northfield Public Library, and L.L. Bean hosted the 1st Ever Pioneer Day Celebration at Crow Island Woods.

Over 200 third graders and chaperones from SD36 spent the day meeting their "cousins," practicing archery, learning how to build a fire, playing with quoits and hoops, feasting on "sausage and buffalo," and so much more in a culmination of their pioneer experience.
