Americans spent $512.1 million on adult Halloween costumes last year. Yes, you read that correctly.
That number comes from Crain's Chicago Business and its recently released map showing spending on adult costumes for Halloween in 2011. That's $100 million more than was spent on kid's costumes in 2011.
It seems like the adults are getting into Halloween even more from the kids.
Winnetkans spent some $103,000 on adult costumes, while Glencoe residents only some $45,000. Our neighbors to the south in Wilmette and Kenilworth spent about $127,000 and about $13,000 respectively.
