General Weather Discussion for the Week Ahead

Another chilly airmass has settled into the region as the upper-level winds are coming in from the northwest. A storm system that has brought several rounds of rain over the Ohio Valley and parts of the Great Lakes region is beginning to stall to our north and east.

The upper system will stick around this weekend and into early next week with several more rounds of showers and sprinkles possible through Tuesday. Rain will become even heavier at times over Michigan, Indiana and some of these showers may wrap around into northeast Illinois on Saturday with some steadier periods of rain looking more likely.

The good news is that the as low pressure system moves away from the area, high pressure will build and bring an extended period of quiet weather from Wednesday through next weekend with a good deal of sunshine and comfortable levels of humidity. Nice weather may even continue into the first week of October as the pattern changes for the better.

Even though temperatures will average several degrees below normal through Monday, temperatures will warm up significantly with highs possibly reaching the mid to upper 70s by the middle and end of next week. Cooler temperatures will stay to our north and east over New England and southeast Canada.
