While it will not look like a winter wonderland this weekend, some rain appears to be in our future with only a few snowflakes on the backside of the storm during the first half of Sunday in some areas. Saturday will be a good day to put up those holiday decorations, mainly in the afternoon, and enjoy a cup of before the rain arrives.

Saturday: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of a few showers from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. 60 percent chance of occasional showers from 8 p.m. and continuing into Sunday.

The holiday season is here and we are still talking about mostly rain to start off the weekend. While it will turn colder as upper-level winds shift to the northwest, precipitation is still expected to average below normal with no major storms.

The Week In Preview

Weekend Pattern- A low pressure system will track to our west placing us once again on the “warm” side of the storm. This means more rain with several showers moving in from the west and southwest with the best chance of rain toward Saturday night. Showers will persist into Sunday morning with possibly a brief mix of wet snow between 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. with no accumulation expected.

Early to Midweek Pattern- Looks like a cold snap for much of the Midwest with possibly some snow flurries on Monday as weak disturbances follow the jet-stream from northwest to southeast into our region. Many of these disturbances may end up passing to our north though. Temperatures will average several degrees below normal during this time.

Late Week Pattern- Quieter weather expected for Wednesday through Friday with possibly a slight moderation in temperatures. Another system will impact our area toward next weekend with some rain and snow looking more likely.

Temperatures: Temperatures will rebound to near 40 today with highs closer to 50 on Saturday as the low pressure system tracks to our west. Look for much colder temps to invade the area with temps falling into the mid 30s by Sunday afternoon. High temps Monday through Wednesday of next week will be in the mid 30s with lows in the low to mid 20s. Temperatures may moderate back to near normal toward the end of the period with highs closer to 40.
