Weekend Weather Forecast for the North Shore

The roller coaster ride this winter continues with a variety of weather conditions, including our latest blast of snowy weather. And yet, temperatures will warm up on Sunday with highs in the low to mid 40s.

Wind: Northwest at 5-10 mph, shifting SE by 8 p.m.
Sunday: Windy with increasing clouds during the afternoon. 30 percent chance of light rain and drizzle from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday.

Low temp: 26 degrees Fahrenheit
High temp: 40 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind: South winds at 15-25 with gusts to 30 mph

Your Week Ahead: Feb. 24 to March 2
An amplified pattern will support the development of a few significant storm systems over the Midwest, which will certainly influence our weather by the middle and end of the week.
Temperature Trends: Temperatures will average near or slightly above normal.
Precipitation Trends: Precipitation will average above normal.
Weekend Pattern: A major storm will develop over the Plains and Upper Midwest this weekend with much of the storm missing us to our northwest. This is good news because the majority of the weekend looks nice with perhaps a little light rain developing Sunday night in advance of a cold front. The heavy snow band will pass across northwest Iowa, eastern South Dakota and into western and central Minnesota where several inches will easily fall.
Early to Midweek Pattern: The best chance of wrap-around snow showers and flurries will be up across Wisconsin on Monday with cold and dry conditions around our neck of the woods. A potent storm will develop on Feb. 28 and continue through Feb. 29 with a variety of precipitation, including rain, sleet and snow, with the potential for a few slushy inches over the north half of the metro area.
Late Week Pattern: The active pattern continues with the next storm possibly producing a few inches of slushy accumulation around March 3.
Temperatures: Temperatures both Friday and Saturday will average a little below normal with highs in the mid 30s. A nice recovery though can be expected on Sunday with highs back into the low to mid 40s, which is some five degrees above normal. More seasonal temperatures expected through much of next week with highs in the mid to upper 30s with perhaps a few days near 40.

Significant Snow Storm Index: A significant storm toward the end of the month will bring a messy mix of rain and snow with the potential of a few inches of slushy accumulation by Tuesday and into Wednesday.
