Seattle NBA/NHL Stadium Investor Chris Hansen to Speak Dec. 10 at Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club

Hansen, Mercer Island resident Peter Nordstrom and other investors received preliminary approval to build a sports and entertainment venue in Seattle and the group is currently seeking to buy a NBA team.

Seattle NBA/NHL Stadium investor Chris Hansen will be featured as the keynote guest speaker for the annual 2012 Annual Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club Business Breakfast scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10, at the PEAK facility from 7-8:15 a.m.

Hansen and Mercer Island resident Peter Nordstrom are among a handful of investors who are working hard to bring a professional basketball team back to Seattle and has made a significant investment in Seattle to make that happen. Over 250 guests are expected at the breakfast.

Chris Hansen grew up in the Seattle area and has a passion for professional sports and is a self-described lifelong Sonics fan. He is currently a managing parter of Valiant Capital in San Francisco, Calif. and resides there.

The Seattle City Council and Metropolitan King County Council recently voted to move forward with a Memorandum of Understanding with investor Chris Hansen to build a $490 million sports and entertainment venue with $200 million in public funds. Hansen is reportedly shopping for an NBA team to relocate to Seattle and is expected to talk about progress on the stadium and status of bringing a professional basketball team back to the area.

"The community’s excitement to have him join us for this event has been tremendous," stated a Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club press release. "This event is important for the Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club and is one of our largest annual fundraisers."

There is no cost to attend the breakfast, but guests will be asked to make a donation of $200 or more. With the support of sponsors, all proceeds from the event will directly impact the lives of children. For those who cannot attend, we encourage them to make a donation to the Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club online at www.mi.positiveplace.org and clicking on DONATE.
