The following is from the Village of Glencoe:
The Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control has informed
the Village that on June 24, 2014, a bat found near the 100 block of Beach
Road was submitted for rabies testing and found to be rabid by the Illinois
State Public Health Laboratory.
Residents are reminded not to handle bats, skunks, or other wild
animals. If you have been exposed to or bitten by a bat, contact your doctor
immediately. Residents should also keep their pets on a leash when
outdoors and be sure that all pets have a current rabies vaccination.
