North Shore Senior Center to Auction Off Carousel Horse

The wooden carousel horse was donated by a renown Winnetka collector.

The North Shore Senior Center will be auctioning off a wooden carousel horse to raise funds for the Center's Social Services and the House of Welcome.

The horse was donated by renown collector Barb Nelson of Winnetka. The carving is of a  hippocampus, a mythical mermaid horse, with a shell-shaped saddle and a fish-like tail. The horse will be auctioned off at the organization's Cultural Carousel Benefit on Sept. 21.

The benefit will also feature live entertainment by the Senior Stompers jazz band, food and a silent auction. There will also be a Grand Raffle drawing, where six winners will receive prizes ranging from a handmade quilt to vacation getaways in Florida, Cabo and Park City, Utah.
