New Trier Straw Poll: Bring on Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush
A poll at recent summer fairs in Wilmette, Winnetka and Glencoe reveal who participating residents would like to see run for president.
New Trier residents strongly favor Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination and find Jeb Bush leading the Republican field according to straw polls conducted by New Trier Democrats at the recent Wilmette, Winnetka and Glencoe summer fairs.
On the Democratic side, 78% favor Hillary Clinton and neither Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Andrew Cuomo nor Martin O’Malley garner more than 10%. On the Republican side, 31% think Jeb Bush will be the nominee followed by Chris Christie (16%) and Rand Paul (11%). Nine other Republicans-in-the-news received few votes.
169 New Trier neighbors participated in the straw poll and numbers would have been much higher without Wilmette’s Saturday rain out. The poll was open to all voters regardless of political views.
