A decent Mother's Day weekend is expected with just a small chance of a shower or t-storm on Saturday and the best chance of rain pushing south of the area on Sunday. Sunday will be a good day to treat your mom to a movie, an outdoor party or barbeque, or perhaps a lovely stroll at the .
Saturday: Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of isolated showers/t-storms from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. 25 percent chance of a few showers from 7 p.m. and continuing through 5 a.m. Sunday.

Looks like a quieter period as we head into the second half of May with no heat waves over the next ten days.
Temperature Trends: Temperatures will average near normal.
Precipitation Trends: Precipitation will average below normal.
Weekend Pattern: A weakening cool front will sail through the region on Saturday with a remote chance of shower or t-storm with little moisture to work with. Skies will clear on Sunday as high pressure builds in from the north with great weather across northern Illinois. Any showers on Sunday will likely stay to our south over central and southern Illinois.
Early to Midweek Pattern: A weak front will stall across downstate Illinois with the best chance of showers/t-storms closer to the southern Illinois, southern Indiana and across much of the Ohio Valley region. A few showers are possible on Wednesday, mainly across the southern suburbs as the front moves into central Illinois for a time. This is just a slight chance though.
Late Week Pattern: Thursday and Friday look dry with increasing chances of rain toward next week as another front approaches from the Plains.
Temperatures: High temps will average near normal through the period with highs temps mostly in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s and 50’s. It is possible though that warmer temps (perhaps 70’s) may move back into the area by late in the week and especially by next weekend.
Severe Weather Outlook: Severe t-storms are not expected for at least one week.
