Lights On in Glencoe; Power Fully Restored

Glencoe was fully powered by 2 p.m. on Thursday, after what ComEd deemed "one of the most severe storms on record."

For the first time since Monday's storm, all ComEd residents in Glencoe were back on the grid by 2 p.m. on Thursday, according to a Village of Glencoe press release.

The village government said it is also working with Comcast to restore service for cable technology.

Meanwhile, ComEd restored power to 95 percent of affected Illinois customers by Friday. Out of 850,000 customers, that means just under 43,000 people are still without electric power.

“We understand that patience can be challenging particularly for those customers who are still without power,” said Frank M. Clark, ComEd chairman and chief executive officer. “We are using all the resources available to us, including crews from more than a dozen states, allowing us to restore service faster than any time in the last decade.”
