Is Hubbard Woods Pricing Out Retailers?

Two Hubbard Woods businesses have announced that they're moving at the end of August. Is this an issue for the district?

In the past month, both Bella Gypsy and Beat Street — both Hubbard Woods retailers — have announced that they'll be closing their doors and moving to new locations in town. Their reason? Both businesses cited the high cost of rent in the Hubbard Woods business district, with rent nearly doubling what it has been in year's past.

Bella Gypsy (a fashion boutique) and Beat Street (a gift shop) are both planning to open the doors at their new locations by the end of the month. Meanwhile, Gap closed in the Hubbard Woods district in January, leaving a large unfilled space in the center of town.

So Patch wants to know. Do you think Hubbard Woods is pricing out retailers? Or is it simply making room for more businesses to move to town? What do you think should be done with the vacant buildings around the district? Let us know in the comments below.
