Hadley Dog Walk to Benefit Blinded Veterans

Two mile walk through Winnetka Saturday, Oct. 6 will benefit veterans who have lost their sight, and will include trick-or-treating, raffle prizes and refreshments for walkers and dogs.

This Saturday, Oct. 6, the Hadley School for the Blind will be holding their 7th annual Hounds for Hadley Dog Walk to benefit veterans who have lost their sight. 

The two-mile walk through Winnetka will feature trick-or-treating, raffle prizes and refreshments for walkers and their dogs who participate. The theme is Halloween, and prizes will awarded for the “Top Dogs” who raise the most funds for the cause.

Costumes, and participating canines are not required to be a part of the event.

The grand marshal for the event will be Hadley Veterans Outreach Specialist Urban Miyares, a successful entrepeneur who also is a blinded veteran.

Sponsors include Pits for Patriots, a charitable organization the faciliates training of put bulls to become service dogs, and The Puppy Mill Project that educates the public about puppy mill abuse and promotes adoption. 

So come on out on Saturday, check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. at the Hadley School for the Blind. Registration is $40 prior to the event and $30 on the day of the walk.
