Circus Boy's Action Packed Comedy Show

  • Why Go?: "Circus Boy" is documented with ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not’ for riding world’s smallest bicycle. Circus Boy utilizes his comedic skills while performing circus antics include riding a titanium unicycle, balancing on a ladder and juggling with his mouth.  Witness live, tricks performed on the ‘Tonight Show’ with Jay Leno.  Good, clean, silly fun for the whole family.

Mindful Grandparenting: Contemporary Challenges and Opportunities

  • Where: Glencoe Public Library, 320 Park Ave, Glencoe
  • Why Go?: Grandparents and parents of adult children are invited to this three-part discussion series to share ideas and concerns. You are welcome to join us for one, two, or all three of the discussions, which will be facilitated by Joan Merlo, L.C.S.W., a psychotherapist with Family Services of Glencoe. This series builds on a related and well-attended meeting in May. This (the second) session is titled Living Our Legacy: Creating Traditions, Sharing our Stories, and Relating Our Family History. The third session, on October 16, is titled Role Modeling How to Age Well: Staying Resilient in Body, Mind, and Spirit.

Fall Health and Wellness Festival

  • Why Go?: Come to the Glenview Fall Health and Wellness Festival, courtesy of Bora Fitness! It's Wednesday Oct. 10th, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Lakeview Room in the Glenview Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Avenue, Glenview, IL (see the flyer for more details). There will be prizes and a raffle to win an iPad ($5 to enter, or enter for free if you bring a food item for the Northfield Pantry). More than 40 local businesses will be there. Don't miss it!

Storytime with Award-winning Picture Book Author Marla Frazee

  • Why Go?: The Book Stall at Chestnut Courtis pleased to welcome picture book writer and illustrator Marla Frazee, reading from and signing copies of her delightful new picture book, Boot & Shoe, a tale of two dogs and the squirrel that disrupts their easy routine. The School Library Journal says of Boot & Shoe, “There is genius in this tale's simplicity and Frazee's understated text, repetitive language, sentence structure, and perfect comic timing play the heartwarming humor to the hilt.”
