World Day of Prayer

On the first Friday in March each year, Christian women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions celebrate the World Day of Prayer, without concern for denominational differences.  All the churches of Northfield will hold a World Day of Prayer Service at Northfield
Community Church, 400 Wagner Road at 10 a.m.
.  Participating churches are:  The Episcopal Church of St. James the Less, Northfield Community Church, Lutheran Church of the Ascension, St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, and Willow Creek North Shore. Each year, a different country serves as the writer of the WDP
worship service.  The women of Malaysia have written their service around the theme Let Justice Prevail.  They strive to be neighbors within a multi-religious country, so they open the service with "Selamat datang"-"Peace and welcome."  This greeting is a reminder that harmony as a
people is rooted in peace and welcome. They name fair and just governance as the basis for harmony in the social order. They remind us, however, that the ideal of peace and harmony is undermined by corruption and greed, and it is distorted when voices for truth and justice are silenced.

Invite your friends, family and communities of faith to
join the women of Malaysia in prayer and song and to support ecumenical ministries toward justice, peace, healing and wholeness. The annual offering will
go to women's and children's groups.
