Winnetka Historical Society Gala a Spectacular Success

This year's Winnetka Historical Society gala was glamorous, delicious, and fun--and it supported a great cause.

Held in the elegant Lloyd House mansion on Sheridan Road (possibly the most important historic private home in Winnetka), over 100 guests enjoyed delicious food and sipped a special Wayside Whirl cocktail, all while live jazz played and "workers" holding picket signs urged donors to "STRIKE a blow for Winnetka history" with their financial support.  New this year, guests helped meet some of the WHS's real needs by buying pieces to a giant photo puzzle, funding such important items as a digital camera, archival supplies, landscaping and internships.

Overall, the evening raised $60,000 for the work of the Historical Society, which operates both the Schmidt-Burnham Log House and the WHS Museum and headquarters at 411 Linden.
