UNICEF's Young Ambassadors to host a 7k run/walk fundraiser this Sunday in Glencoe, IL

On Sunday April 27, 2014 the Young Ambassadors for UNICEF will be participating in a 7K Walk/Run in Glencoe, IL. The Young Ambassadors are a group of globally-minded youth, ages 10 to 14 years, who volunteer their time to advocate and fundraise for UNICEF in the Chicago area.

Currently, the Young Ambassadors are supporting The Eliminate Project, UNICEF’s global campaign in partnership with Kiwanis International, which aims to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), a deadly disease that steals the lives of nearly 60,000 newborns and a significant number of women each year in 25 countries. 

All proceeds raised at the run/walk will support The Eliminate Project.  Below you will find details on the event.

UNICEF’s Young Ambassadors 7K Walk/Run to Eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus

What: On April 27, 2014 UNICEF’s Young Ambassadors will host a 7K Walk/Run in Glencoe to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT).

The event is a fundraiser for The Eliminate Project, UNICEF’s global campaign in partnership with Kiwanis International, to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, a deadly disease that steals the lives of nearly 60,000 newborns and a significant number of women each year in 25 countries.  Forty Young Ambassadors, ages 10-14, are participating in this event, which is expected to attract approximately 100 participants of all ages.

So far, the Young Ambassadors have raised $1,795 toward their $3,800 goal. Just $1.80 can protect a woman and her future newborns from contracting tetanus.

Where: Skokie lagoons, Forest Preserve Black Loop Trail (Glencoe)

When:   9:00 am – 11:00 am
