PATHWAYS CENTER OFFERS "MOVE, PLAY, TALK!" PROGRAM TO HELP CHILDREN'S COMMUNICATION SKILLS

July 2, 2013 (GLENVIEW) – Kids learn best while they are playing and having fun. Physical activity is a great way to support development of a wide range of skills, especially communication and social interaction.

Move, Play, Talk is a dynamic, active play group aimed at building communication and interaction skills. Specialized equipment is used in each session to help create a playground where children’s natural communication is supported, while facilitating gross motor play.  The opportunity to target skills while children are engaged and having fun helps encourage verbal language, social interaction, motor skills and sensory development during the time when they learn best- while playing!

“We have found that kids interact most with each other when they are moving and playing. This group gives us the unique opportunity to target functional communication and social interaction. The more fun they are having when they learn, the better outcomes we see,” says Pathways Center Speech-Language Pathologist Ashley Springer.
