Northfield Township Road District Sponsors Shredding & Recycling on May 17

The Northfield Township Road District has scheduled a number of  shredding and recycling events to help Township residents dispose of a wide variety of items responsibly and safely. The next event is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the west parking lot of the New Trier High School Northfield Campus, located at 7 Happ Road in Northfield. The event will run from 8:30 am to 12:30pm.

Township residents are welcome to bring a wide variety of items, from eyeglasses and therapeutic devices to paintand  engine oil, and which will then be safely recycled or repurposed as appropriate. A detailed list of accepted items may be viewed on the Township’s website, http://northfieldtownship.com/recycling-program.html. In addition, free paper shredding will be available onsite. Shredding is limited to a maximum of three containers, such as shopping bags or computer paper boxes, per vehicle.

The Road District offers frequent recycling and shredding events in accordance with its environmental mission statement, a commitment to comprehensive environmental protection through the use of the most socially and environmentally responsible recycling programs. According to Road District Commissioner Peter Amarantos, “We believe that our residents want to be responsible and recycle in an environmentally conscientious way. Our purpose is to offer simple and convenient solution to the management of recyclables that reward our residents’ environmental integrity.”
