North Shore Youth Agency Hosts Fundraiser to Meet Teen Demand

North Shore Youth Agency Hosts Fundraiser to Meet Teen Demand

Annual Event Features the Music Institute of Chicago’s Latin Jazz Combo

A typical afternoon at the Winnetka Youth Organization, or the YO as teens call it, sees several teens participating in creative projects and interacting with their peers. As the only place of its kind in Winnetka, the agency has seen a sharp increase in attendance. However, United Way and some other public funding has disappeared. North Shore residents can help these students by attending the upcoming fundraiser.

The community is invited to attend Beats and Eats on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Winnetka Community House Garden Room, 620 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka. It features live music from the Music Institute of Chicago’s Latin Jazz Combo, a group of serious adult jazz students with adult-level skills, coached by Chicago jazz trumpet star Victor Garcia. The combo includes trumpet, vibes, bass, drums and guitar. The group also shares vocals and trombonist Audrey Morrison, head of the Jazz Department at MIC, will be sitting in. Wear your dancing shoes as you may feel the urge to get up and move!

A delectable sampling of hors d’oeuvres from Catered By Design will be passed throughout the evening and served alongside wine and beer, generously provided by Goose Island Beer Company. The night will also feature an auction with prizes including a Chicago Blackhawks Jersey signed by Jonathan Toews, a Chicago Bulls Jersey signed by Jimmy Butler, a meet and greet opportunity with an artist performing this summer at Ravinia Festival, and more.
