First Installment Tax Bills Due March 4, 2014

First installment tax bills for tax year 2013 are in the mail. The first installment is 55% of the total property tax bill from the previous year and is due on March 4. This bill will not reflect any exemptions or the result of a successful assessment appeal filed last year for 2013. The first installment is an estimate based on what was paid last year. Any change in assessment and all the exemptions appear on the second bill, which will come out in July.

Property owners who do not have mortgage companies paying their taxes can make tax payments by mail or on-line at the Cook County Treasurer’s web site, www.cookcountytreasurer.com, or in-person at the Treasurer’s office, 118 North Clark Street, Chicago. In-person payments are also accepted at any Chase Bank. The Township Assessor’s office does not accept tax payments.

Contact the Township Assessor’s Office at 847.446.8200 with questions regarding the property tax process or your bill in particular. You may also reach the Assessor’s Office via email at lcross@newtriertownship.com.
