Weather Alert Issued for Winnetka

The high heat forecast has resulted in a weather alert for Winnetka, Glencoe, Northfield and the rest of Cook County.

A weather alert has been issued for Winnetka, due to the particularly high heat index. The alert is set through Tuesday.

"Temperatures are forecast to warm well into the 90s Tuesday," an alert from the National Weather Service states. "The combination of the unusually hot temperatures so late int he summer, along with moderate humidity levels, could result in heat indices reaching or exceeding 100 degrees." 

The alert is in place for most of the Chicagoland area, including Cook County.

Be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks from outdoor activity. If you suspect that you or someone you know is suffering from heat stroke or heat exhaustion, contact medical officials immediately.
