Shoppers Want A Mariano's To Replace Northfield Dominick's

Does the area need another grocery store? Let us know in the comments.

Last week, Patch asked its readers what they'd like to see replace the Dominick's at 1822 Willow Rd. in Northfield, when the grocery store closes later this year.

A resounding call for Mariano's quickly followed. Three people said they'd like to see a Mariano's in the location, while one more said Trader Joe's.

Concerned the vocal majority doesn't represent all of the North Shore. Tell us in the comments below what you'd like to see in the large grocery store when Dominick's closes later this year.

Safeway, the parent company of Dominick's, announced last week it will sell all 72 of its Chicago-area Dominick's stores, including the Dominick's store at 1822 Willow Rd. in Northfield.

Around the Chicago area, competitor Jewel-Osco has already purchased four of the Dominick's stores: two in Chicago, one in Homer Glen and one in Glenview, according to the Chicago Tribune

Cincinnati-based Kroger Inc. is interested in at least 15 Dominick's locations for its Food 4 Less stores, Crain's reports.
