North Shore Schools, Park Districts Still Closed Tuesday

We will post any last minute updates that may occur due to Tuesday's extreme cold.

Due to the second straight day of extreme cold, most Winnetka, Glencoe, Northfield and Wilmette public schools will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 28, according to the Emergency Closing Center.

Middlefork and Sunset Ridge Schools are open.

The Winnetka-Northfield Public Library will open at 1:00 p.m.

The Glencoe Park District will run the following programs tomorrow:

  • Children's Circle
  • Before and After-School Adventures full-day program
  • Adult Fitness Classes
  • First and Second Grade Basketball Clinics
  • SNAG Golf
  • Karate
  • Open Gym (10 AM-3 PM)
All other park district programs are cancelled (including ELC, GJK, and preschool/kindergarten/youth enrichments). Watts Ice Center will be closed all day; the Takiff Center will close at 6:30 p.m.

At the Northfield Park District, all classes will be held at their regular times Tuesday. Sunset Ridge School District 29 does have school so there will be no Open Gym during day time hours. The Ice Rink will be closed.

In Wilmette, park district classes for Preschool, full ay Preschool and Kindergarten Enrichment at the Early Childhood Center have been cancelled due to the closure of Wilmette Public Schools District 39. At this time Park District programs, with some exceptions, will run as scheduled.
