Fire Hydrant Testing May Lead to Discolored Laundry

Here's what you need to know today in Winnetka.

Know: On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Winnetka Fire Department will be testing hydrants in neighborhoods around schools. Signs will be placed in the affected areas. During the testing, you may notice water discoloration after the testing. The water is safe to drink, but can discolor laundry. Run the water until it becomes clear if that occurs. If discoloration continues, contact the Water Department at 847-716-3558.

Know: Curb/gutter installation will be occurring at the intersection of Green Bay Rd. and Winnetka Ave. The road work should be complete before the beginning of school.

Do: Join the Northfield Library in their monthly mystery book club! This month's selection is City of Exiles by Alec Nevala-Lee. More information is available here

The special showing will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The show is three hours and 54 minutes, with two intermissions, so make sure to stop at the snack bar beforehand. Tickets are $20 and are available online here
