DESCRIPTION:Do you love to write? Do you spend your free time scribbling 
 in notebooks\, scratching poems in the margins of your math homework\, a
 nd daydreaming about stories and characters? Dream of writing a best sel
 ling novel some day? Then this workshop is for you &mdash\; guaranteed t
 o get you inspired and writing all summer long!\nIn this week-long Creat
 ive Writing Camp\, you&rsquo\;ll write without worrying about grades or 
 deadlines\, create new work and polish existing pages\, and work closely
  with professional writers who will help to guide your process and answe
 r any questions you have about writing\, publishing\, living the writing
  life\, and more.\nAt the end of the week\, you&rsquo\;ll join your camp
 mates in presenting your stories and leave camp with a poem\, short stor
 y\, monologue\, essay\, or even a graphic novel. Best of all\, you&rsquo
 \;ll get to meet other teenage writers like yourself who are serious and
  excited about their stories!\nThe week will have several components:\n&
 bull\;&nbsp\;Writing:&nbsp\;Writing prompts to spark your imagination\, 
 help you break through blocks\, and learn to reach new heights of creati
 vity.\n&bull\;&nbsp\;Workshopping:&nbsp\;We&rsquo\;ll share our work and
  give each other feedback on what&rsquo\;s working well and what opportu
 nities we can find in each piece (whether it&rsquo\;s fiction\, non-fict
 ion\, poetry\, or theatre). We&rsquo\;ll talk about where we can extend 
 scenes and dialogue to push the narrative\, how word choice can affect t
 he piece as a whole\, how to spice up language and how to find&mdash\;an
 d trust&mdash\;your own amazing original voice.\n&bull\;&nbsp\;Performan
 ce:&nbsp\;Campers will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform thei
 r written work!\n&bull\;&nbsp\;Electives:&nbsp\;Each day there will be t
 ime set aside for electives:\n&mdash\;Monologues/Essays/Scenes: Develop 
 your voice through memoir and dramatic monologue. You will draw from per
 sonal experience to create performable memoir pieces or generate origina
 l character monologues.\n&mdash\;Performance Poetry: Take your words and
  send them flying. Using material you generate at camp\, you&rsquo\;ll l
 earn to add images and experiment with words and rhythms to write a perf
 ormable poem.\n&mdash\;Graphic Novel: Word and pictures have always gone
  together. Take your story ideas and convert them into the popular graph
 ic novel form. And no\, you don&rsquo\;t have be good at drawing!\n&mdas
 h\;Short Story: If you love making up characters\, then writing short st
 ories is the perfect mix of characters\, action\, dialogue and scenes. C
 reate a new story or bring an old one that you&rsquo\;d like to improve.

 age groups: grades 6-8\, and grades 9-10. (Juniors or seniors in high sc
