Tad Hills, author and illustrator of the beloved picture books Duck and Goose and How Rocket Learned to Read will be visiting The Book Stall (811 Elm Street in Winnetka) on Friday, Nov. 16th at 4:30 PM. Mr. Hills will be presenting his new book, Rocket Writes a Story. The School Library Journal says, “Children will love deciphering the illustrated words that cover Rocket's teaching tree. Listeners, readers, and aspiring writers will appreciate the excellent description of the many ways that stories unfold.” Mr. Hills will be happy to autograph copies of his books for attendees. This event is appropriate for ages 5 to adult, and is free and open to the public.
In August at The Book Stall, we hosted a writing workshop based on Rocket Writes a Story, using the Yellow Bird’s methods—and the kids loved the writing prompts and loved the book. This event is a great chance to reinforce a love of reading, and writing with kids who are just embarking on a life of words.
