Oscar Hammerstein was born into a storied theater family; yet, following his father's wishes, he tried to become a lawyer. But musical theater was his calling, and with a number of collaborators his work re-shaped and re-defined this American art form. This two-part program presented by Susan Benjamin features some of Oscar's most memorable lyrics with explanations of how his personal life led to his writing songs that read like poetry.

The North Shore Senior Center offers everything from enrichment and technology classes to entertainment and seminars on senior issues. The fitness center is open to seniors and the larger North Shore community. The volunteer center also helps seniors connect to the community through service, both at the center and in surrounding villages. It also has resources for those who live at home, such as a handyman services and legal and tax assistance.
