Digital Privacy Forum in Glencoe Feb. 25
GLENCOE, Ill., Feb. 19, 2013 – Are government and business over-seeking personal information and data? Are cell phone, email, Internet, social media, computer, banking, medical and other records being tracked? What protections are needed?
A Digital Privacy Forum will address these topics at 7:00 p. m., Monday, Feb. 25th at the Glencoe Public Library. It’s free, open to the public and sponsored by New Trier Democrats.
Speakers include Colleen Connell, executive director and Ed Yohnka, public policy and communications director, of the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois. They’ll explore the nature of privacy in our modern society and how much access to our private information government has when we interact with other entities. They’ll also explore what’s needed to protect Americans from unnecessary surveillance by government and private entities, in light of missing federal privacy guidelines.
Forum sponsor, New Trier Democrats, has been dedicated since the 1960s to promoting government integrity and helping North Shore neighbors become involved in the political process. For information, call 847-446-8030 or check www.ntdo.org.
