Glencoe’s Aitz Hayim to Sponsor Political Forum with Leading Democratic and Jewish Leaders
Now that the election is over, what are the ramifications for American Jews? To understand what happened and what it means for the future, on December 14 at Glencoe’s Aitz Hayim Center for Jewish Living, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe, there will be a frank, open and informative discussion between Jewish Democratic leader Alan Solow, and Republican Jewish leader Fred Zeidman.
Fred Zeidman and Alan Solow, two Wexner Heritage Foundation graduates, held leading roles in the American Jewish community and were two of the most inside Jewish political leaders. Fred was head of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the leading Jewish Republican advisor and a close personal friend of George W Bush. He often represented the Jewish face of Romney campaign. Alan Solow was chairman of the Council of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, the Jewish leader of the Obama campaign and a close personal friend of Barack Obama. They return to Aitz Hayim together to share the insights, perspectives and honest appraisals of what was said and what it will mean.
Because they respect each other and are friends, who have often worked together for the betterment of the Jewish people and they are in a post campaign performance mode, they will give us a different and meaningful look. Whether you are an avid partisan or a confused Jew, this is a most worthwhile program.
Prior to the discussion, a Kabbalat Shabbat service will be held, which begins at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner. The event takes place in the Education Center at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Rd., Glencoe. The cost is $20 for the dinner and discussion.
RSVP's are required by December 7. Visit shalom@aitzhayim.org.
