Romantika Lingerie Boutique Spices Up Downtown Winnetka

The new lingerie store features a variety of gifts, whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just want every day to be a little more exciting.

Shopping in downtown Winnetka just got a little sexier, thanks to the recently opened Romantika Lingerie Boutique. The store — which carries fine European lingerie, high-end athletic wear, designer men’s underwear, sex toys, candles, jewelry and other gifts — opened in it’s new location at 912 Green Bay Rd. about two weeks ago after four and a half years in Wheeling. “Most of our clients are from the North Shore, and we decided to go them,” co-owner Kate Gordin said. “This is a little conservative of an area but [North Shore residents] are adventurous but they don’t always show it…everyone wants to spice it up!” The lingerie carried at Romantika are predominately by European designers and are made of delicate materials such as raw silk — …

Leonidas Café Chocolaterie Moving to Evanston

The Wilmette location of the fine Belgian chocolates shop will be moving to Evanston.

Leonidas Café Chocolaterie, the chocolate shop located in downtown Wilmette, will be moving to Evanston after 8 years in its location at 1157 Wilmette Ave. The store's current location will be closing at the end of May, and the Evanston location is set to open in July. "We have outgrown this space and are not able to meet all of your requests," a sign on the door of the Wilmette location says. "The new location will have more seating, a pastry kitchen, extended creperie and better opening hours." The Evanston location will be on the corner of Green Bay Rd. and Central Ave., right next to Maya Papaya and Tony Macarony Children's Boutique. All Nature's Way Opens in Winnetka

A ribbon cutting was held on May 15 for the business that aims to help people balance their bodies and minds.

The Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on May 15 for the new All Nature's Way in Winnetka, located at 560 Green Bay Rd. Adi Barad, L. Ac. of All Nature's Way practices acupuncture and Chinese medicine. The business aims to help put the body and mind in balance and harmony in order to sustain good health. Northbrook's Only Food Truck Carries Classic Lucky Cakes

The classic treat popular in the 50s and 60s is still around, online or at a small food truck on the corner of Dundee and Skokie.

Northbrook's only food truck, the Roadside Kitchen, sits at the corner of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard Tuesday through Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It's also the only place you can still find an original-recipe Lucky Cake, the small, moist chocolate and vanilla cakes that were popular in the 50s and 60s. The food truck is owned and operated by Joe and Louise Rycraft, who say they've held Northbrook's only food truck license since November of last year.  "We decided not to do traveling [service] like all the other food trucks do because we wanted to find regulars," Louise said.   Northfield-based Kraft Foods group and three other North Shore-based companies have made the Fortune 500 list for 2013.  Five Deerfield-based companies also made the list. See the list on Deerfield Patch.  Fortune 500 companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years. A total of 32 Illinois companies made the Fortune 500 list. Others include Abbott Labs at #70, Sears at #71, Allstate at #92, McDonald's at #111, CDW at #267 and Motorola at #304. North Shore Walmart Submits Development Application

Walmart submitted a development application to open a location in Northbrook.

On April 29, Walmart submitted its zoning and subdivision relief application for the property at 1000 Skokie Boulevard, according to a recent Northbrook village memo. Over the next three weeks, Village staff will be reviewing the application for its completeness and compliance with Village regulations. Once staff has finished its review, staff will determine if the application is ready for a public hearing before the Plan Commission. The earliest possible date for a Public Hearing would be June 18, 2013. Public Hearing notices will be posted on line at www.northbrook.il.us and reminders sent via Northbrook Notify.
