I have been asked why I appear to be "against" flood mitigation. Fact: Not I, nor theRead More hundreds of residents that I have heard from through my 8 years of service and beyond, are against addressing flooding issues around our community. Following the historic rain event, flood mitigation was elevated to #1 status by the Council. We kept a laser focus on it because that was the consensus of the Council and the community, and I certainly agreed. However, throughout the Councils process while I was President, the Council said that no final decisions have been made and we will go to the community before finalizing any plan of action. As you all know from the overwhelming comments, the in-depth public engagement for feedback and consensus-building became 2 "lectures" at the Community House to "sell" a plan that the new Council had quickly finalized (on levels of protection, financing methodology, etc.) As a wise former Village official aptly stated, as a blend of home rule status and Winnetka's culture of participatory democracy, the Village should have held its own referendum regarding the strategic direction of the stormwater project before issuing any bonds. The process was derailed by the current Council and the "No" vote is the result.

Jessica is right on. It is time for Winnetka voters to pay attention. The Council has more up theirRead More sleeves, vigilance is the only answer. Start attending meetings and bear witness to the bullies you have elected . Together we can make a difference

Thank you Mike Madigan. As the current Speaker of the House, and a member of the House for 40+Read More years, he has knowingly and willingly dug this huge hole for the State of Illinois. Now he and other Democratic Leaders want to be seen as saviors! I just wish Illinois Voters/Taxpayers would wake up and realize what Mike Madigan has done to this state, and how he's used his power to enrich himself.

Unions feed Quinn, Madigan, Cullerton and the band of crooks before them. IL voters get what theyRead More deserve.

watch this pension "reform" much like B0-ama Kare totally passed by democrats - will thenRead More be in the courts being litigated immediately - trail lawyers who owe their existence to the DNC will then funnel more money back to the DNC to help them in 2014. Demon Rats can do this because much of the "reporting" never exposes their lies or deeds. Classic bait & switch
Bucephalus December 8, 2013 at 09:56 pm
Your post would convey some more seriousness if you could actually sound serious. I don't know whatRead More "trail" lawyers are, perhaps you meant "trial" lawyers? You also seem to have difficulty not only completing a single thought, but also in completing a single complete sentence. Instead of incoherently ranting about pension reform, Obamacare, trial lawyers, the DNC, fundraising, and the media, perhaps you could actually detail your opinion on the pension reform?

Put a dollar in around 1983, Dow index 1258. Retire today at age 52 get $12.72, 1272% on yourRead More money, Dow index 16,000. Put a dollar in Soc Sec, if you live to collect and if the entitlement is still there, may get $0.03 back. You tell me.
McCloud November 21, 2013 at 02:58 pm
Maybe Bernake would then stop printing bogus money to prop up the Dow and steal money fromRead More generations of people who either don't know yet, or are not born yet.

I thought by now I'd hear some outrageous reply, I'm going to conclude point won.
