I find it so tasteless that the Winnetka Patch (a la Northshore TMZ) keeps reporting on this woman's mistakes and misfortunes. (It's akin to when they post about our neighbor's being foreclosed on under the title " housing bargains!" Ick.) If this were an everyday citizen we would have moved on by now. Enough already. She'll have her day in court and will pay her dues.

You call drunk driving a misfortune? This is about decision making. A trustee of any village will be held to a higher standard. The root word is trust. Trusted to make responsible decisions that affect our community directly. If this person is using the same reasoning in her post as trustee of a village, we must have a spotlight on it to discourage poor decision makers from either participating in our local governments or to discourage them from making poor decisions in the first place. Also take note that this person is 60 not 16 years old. Unacceptable and not to be trusted further.

Liberty: I also called the situation a mistake. I made no mention of her politcal affiliation in this town. I think the root words here are small town smugness. If you were my neighbor and made a similar mistake I'd make certain the entire neighborhood knew about your situation repeatedly. I'd share every gory detail with my family and make certain to pile on to your misery. I'd cloak my reasoning in righteous indignation as I put a spotlight on your misfortune. I've never met Jennifer Spinney, nor do I participate in the nauseating politics of our small town. Your post is reminiscent of 1600's Salem, "Liberty and Justice for All." Ironic name, by the way.
