Update: Winnetka Gap Closing Its Doors

Gap location on Green Bay Rd in Winnetka will be closing its doors this week.

Winnetka's Gap location — at 925 Green Bay Road — will be permanently closing its doors this week, an employee confirmed. The store is currently having a sale to get rid of its remaining merchandise.

"As  part of our real estate strategy for Gap brand as outlined in 2007, we want each of our stores to be the best possible representation of who we are—a well-loved American brand known for its optimistic, casual style," a representative from Gap headquarters said of the Winnetka closing. "The Gap store closures scheduled in January 2013, including the Gap in Winnetka, are the final stores to be shut down as part of the long-term real estate strategy outlined in 2007."

Oh my, bummer. I love having that store there. Wonder if the red haired lady scared everyone away.

Michele, that is funny.

So sad to see this store go! It is my go to shop for my three little ones!

No Heidi, Michele's comment is not funny. Michele - did that comment make you feel better about yourself?

I'm sorry but I believe Michele is correct - there is a female employee with red hair who was not the best with customer service.

Why have many stores and restuarants closed in Highland Park? Corner bakery, Cosi do a great business elsewhere but closed in HP.

Being a retailer for over 8 years on the block, I'm saddened to see the Gap leave Hubbard Woods. The support from our community is vital to the success of these retailers. Please remember to shop locally...
