Willow Road on Tuesday's Northfield Village Board Agenda

The trustees will discuss funding the road reconstruction project and restricting parking along Willow Road.

The Northfield Board of Trustees will take up the issue of Willow Road reconstruction at its meeting Tuesday night.

How to improve a 1.2-mile stretch of Willow Road in Northfield has been a controversial topic in the community. In that area, Willow Road is reduced from four lanes to two lanes.

In Northfield, residents worry about speeding cars and the potential for an accident involving a child on the way to school. Meanwhile, commuters from Northbrook and Glenview feel the two lanes create a daily nuisance as they sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic during rush hour on the way to and from the Edens Expressway.

The meeting agenda includes the following items:

  • Consideration of an agreement between the State of Illinois and the Village of Northfield for the Willow Road Reconstruction Project.
  • Consideration of an ordinance (Exhibit B) appropriating funds for the Willow Road Reconstruction Project.
  • Consideration of an ordinance (Exhibit C) restricting parking along Willow Road.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Village Hall in the first floor council chamber. Click on the PDF above for the full agenda.

The state is broke! How are we going to pay for more traffic congestion and sacrifice the safety of our children!
