Want To Attend A Debate Party?

President Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will debate at 8 p.m. If you'd rather join a crowd to watch, here's a list of debate viewing parties.

Is it a reaction to the polarization in Congress? Or just a need we all have to escape from our TVs and computers and join live human beings?

Whatever the reason, many people are organizing debate watching parties, often with others of their political persuasion, for the first presidential debate of the 2012 campaign tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox.

The Obama campaign is blanketing the nation with debate watching parties, and has a website you can check for one in your area.

So far, they have parties scheduled in homes, restaurants, bars, etc. in Skokie, Mount Prospect, Evanson, Elk Grove Village, Chicago's North and Northwest sides, Highland Park and Deerfield.

Romney supporters are hosting a viewing party in Crystal Lake, according to Huntley Patch, in Palatine hosted by Awaken America and another one in Joliet, according to NBC News.
