I was laying in bed contemplating this crisp, cloudless day ..... my daughter, a seventh grader at Sunset Ridge, was watching TV in the family room and came bursting into my room to say a plane had hit "those really big buildings" in NYC. I quickly turned on the TV in the bedroom and we sat on the bed watching, surmising that it was a small sightseeing plane that had run into trouble. As we continued watching, I was focused on the screen, trying to figure out how to save all those people that were around the fire..... all of a sudden, my daughter exclaimed, "Mom, there's another plane coming!!!" and we all know what happened next. My husband worked in the financial markets downtown and he called immediately and said they were evacuating the building thinking that Chicago might be another target. I can still remember the sadness and fear that came with that day and how this tragedy affected our lives and world as we knew it. We watched this whole plan unfold right in front of our eyes, and with that a clearer view of our enemies.
