Sports Roundup: Girls Dominate Tennis, Field Hockey; Boys Tie Soccer

Varsity Boys' Soccer
Played Chicago Academy (Regional Finalists last year) at Home on Wednesday, August 29, with a tie game of 3-3.
Freshman Will Lawler scored 3 goals. The team came back from a 3-1 half-time deficit showing great spirit to rally with two goals in the last 25 minutes.
Freshman Will Lawler scored all three goals, which included a great strike from the top of the box to level the game at 3-3. Riley Hall made a goalline clearance, and goalkeeper Alex Karmin made some great saves to keep us in the game.
Varsity Girls' Tennis
Played Niles North on Tuesday, August 28 and won 3-2.
The match was tied 2-2, and the deciding match came down to #1 singles co-captain Annie Morris. She won in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. We won at #2 singles with Caroline Abrams with a decisive score of 6-1 6-1.
The third win came from an undefeated #1 doubles duo of co-captain Abby Trott and Catherine Hayward and they won 6-3 6-4. On Wednesday, August 29 we lost a tough one to Evanston Township High School.
Played Latin on Monday, August 27 and the North Shore defeated Latin School 4-1.
The Raiders had a strong showing in their opening ISL Conference match at Latin school. While the Raiders came out strong in the first half, they were not able to capitalize on the strong offense and finish in front of the goal.
The Raiders scored first, but Latin rallied with a goal before the half. North Shore came out strong in the second half and posted three more goals to put away the Romans. Raider Goalie, Ilhana Redzovic, had 15 saves in the game. The goals were scored by Lizzy Gendell (assist: Addie Ball); Heather Mabie (assist: Lizzy Gendell); Sydney Shafer; and Heather Mabie.
On Wednesday, August 29 the North Shore played Woodlands and defeated them 4-0.
The Raiders won the third straight game with a win over Woodlands Academy. Katherine Chandler put the Raiders on the scoreboard four minutes into the game and Mackenzie Nolan added another goal right before the half.
Tonya Piergies (assist: Tala Glass) and Katherine Chandler (assist: Tala Glass) both added goals in the second half. The Raiders dominated the game offensively forcing 10 penalty corners, while allowing no defensive corners.
