For the past three years, the Witches of Winnetka, or moms who dress up as witches, have been riding around Winnetka on Halloween to wish residents Happy Halloween.
The group was started by Sue Thompson, a Winnetka mom of four. “My son goes to Hubbard Wood School and the whole school comes out and greets us,” Thompson said.
In the first year, 19 witches joined the ride. Last year some 40 witches turned out to “haunt” Winnetka. This year close to 30 witches rode along Green Bay Road and even through The Grand Food Center. “Anyone’s welcome to join us,” Thompson said.
